Beer Minute 02/14/17 – Riverwalk Expands
This just in from Jessica Bartlett – Reporter from Boston Business Journal
Newburyport, MA’s RiverWalk Brewing is about to get a new home. And it’s 10 times bigger.
The brewery announced the plans during a public unveiling Saturday. The project, estimated to cost between $1 million and $1.5 million, will be funded partly through a MassDevelopment loan, as well as though a bank loan and a number of private investors.
The new 20,000-square-foot space will allow the brewery to massively expand production, with plans to grow its 2,000-barrel annual output eventually to 20,000 barrels. The brewery has plans to add another 10 employees to its existing roster and also to brew more varieties of beer, recently having added several new hop contracts.
The new tap room alone will be bigger than its current total space, with a 3,000-square-foot area offering 12 tap lines and the opportunity to sample full pints of beer.
