Three Penny Taproom in Montpelier, Vermont has been named on Draft Magazine’s Best Beer Bars list literally every year since they opened in 2009. Boasting an immaculately curated taplist paired with impeccable service and an elevated food menu, it’s no wonder. We sat down with co-owner Kevin Kerner to talk about his roots as a brewer, cat piss hops, and maintaining world class status and a customer base in the saturated beer market. We also shot some video there, here are a few clips:
“If you drink beer in Vermont, you know Scott Kerner.” Now you can get to know the man behind Three Penny Taproom, the Mule Bar, Mad Taco, and most recently Good Measure Brewing Co. We’ll talk about the challenges of opening a brewery this late in the game, brewing classic styles, and, of course, hazy IPAs and why you won’t find them there.
